What is Kabbalah?
Kabbalah is an ancient tradition of Jewish mysticism that seeks to understand the deeper mysteries of existence, the nature of God, the universe and the human soul.
The word Kabbalah means “receiving” or “received tradition” in Hebrew. Its teachings explore the idea that beneath the physical world lies a deeper spiritual reality, and that everything in existence is connected through the divine.
One of its central concepts is the Tree of Life, a symbolic diagram consisting of ten interconnected spiritual qualities, known as the Sefirot. These represent different ways in which the infinite divine is understood to manifest within creation.
Kabbalah also explores questions about why we exist, the purpose of human life, the nature of good and evil, and how individuals might develop a closer relationship with the divine.
Its most influential text is the Zohar, a collection of mystical interpretations of Jewish scripture that became prominent in medieval Spain.
Although traditionally studied within Judaism, Kabbalah has attracted wider interest from people exploring spirituality, meditation, consciousness and the mysteries of existence.
At its heart, Kabbalah is an attempt to look beyond the surface of everyday reality and understand the deeper spiritual meaning of life and our place within the universe.
